We recently covered 3 broadband’s SIM only mobile broadband deal that was a great option for those of us that already have a mobile broadband dongle and wanted quick, cheap pay-as-you-go access without having to sign up to a monthly contract.

This week we’re going to look at another deal from three that is on a contract. In fact, it’s only quite a lengthy 24 month contract – but don’t let that put you off. There’s actually really good value in this deal compared not only to similar pay-as-you-go prices but also just about every other contract around right now.

This offer ends soon…
The deal comes with a free ZTE MF627 broadband dongle which is capable of download speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps, and includes a slot so you can also use it as a memory stick if needed. It’s a pretty standard dongle in itself although it’s slightly more unique in its design than ones you’ll get most companies: it’s totally black with a green “3” label etched on the front.

It’s not the dongle that’s really the draw of this deal though, it’s the bandwidth. Each month you’ll get 15GB of data – much more than on common mobile broadband contracts at a similar price. This is great news for people who are heavy users of mobile broadband, either those using it as a fixed line replacement or business users who are often traveling.

Massive 15gb Mobile Broadband Usage

3 are offering this for only £15 a month, with no setup fee.

15GB will let you comfortably surf the net for a few hours a day without having to worry about running out of bandwidth quickly. It’s nearly three times more bandwidth than you’ll receive from other contracts, especially those running free laptop deals. Other providers are beginning to offer 15GB limits as well, although 3’s deal remains the cheapest so far.

Mobile broadband allows users to connect at speed of up to 3.6 Mbps, although that speed will vary greatly depending on your area and the level of network coverage. It’s recommend that you do as much research as you can into the mobile signal in your area before you buy.

Or 3 Offer 15gb Mobile Broadband With a Free Laptop For £22.50 per month

Three offer pretty much the same deal as above, with a ‘free’ laptop for £22.50
Click the banner below for more information.

3’s deal ends on the 30th June, so you only have until the end of this month to snap up the deal at these prices.

If you are looking for information on the deal WITH the laptop then click on the image below.

Getting a free laptop with a mobile broadband package may at first seem like an amazing deal, but is it really? Free laptop deals are increasing in popularity, but there are one two things you should think about before signing any contracts.

Firstly, you should be aware of the contract length. Are you happy to sign for 24 months? Think about it, if you signed a 12 or 18 month contract instead then you could renew quicker, and possibly upgrade to a better deal quicker.

Secondly, just how good is the laptop on offer? Will it handle the sort of workload you are planning to throw at it? If you are just surfing the web and checking your emails, then a netbook or cheap laptop may be just the thing for you… however, if you are wanting to play serious games, or edit multimedia files, then perhaps you need something a little more powerful.

If you have thought about the above two points, and you want to know what is a good deal for you, then be sure to shop around before deciding what deal to go with. The net can be a great place for doing this, as it can save you much footwork!

Another final thing to consider, is what about value for money. What would be the cost of a mobile broadband connection without a ‘free’ laptop, the cost of buying the laptop separately. Add these figures up, and also add up the total cost of your broadband package, and see which is cheaper.

Some people use the ‘free’ laptop offers as a form of cheap credit, and if this suits you then there are plenty of offers available for you.

Most of the mobile phone networks provide such offers these days, as well as some of the larger stores (Tesco have an offer we wrote about recently, for example).

Whatever you decide, ukcheapbroadband.com would like to remind it’s readers that it is very important to make sure you full understand the implications of any contracts before you sign, and you should also be aware of any ‘cooling off period’ you are entitled to.

Cheapest Mobile Broadband Claim

Mobile broadband and cheap broadband and not terms usually associated with each other, however mobile provider 3 Claims their new ’SIM-only’ deal is the most flexible and cheapest way in the country to get connected via mobile broadband.

The company has given users a generous data allowance of 5 GB per month – enough for around 50 hours of normal web usage. There’s not even any contract involved, and you’re free to cancel the service any time you want – something that is rare amongst broadband contracts which can normally extend to 18 months and beyond.

The deal comes with SIM card rather than a dongle. If you already own a 3 dongle you can simply replace the SIM with any additional costs. If you don’t, you can buy devices such as the Huawei MF627 from the company for a one-off payment of around £20 – nearly a full £10 cheaper than current options available from 3’s competition.

The monthly usage and terms of use is looking very consumer friendly right now, with the 5GB a month allowance 2GB higher than other deals that don’t require a contract. 3 also offer a 15GB plan for those willing to sign up for the long term.

The new follows a recent announcement from the provider that they’ve sold over a million USB modems, with demands driven through clever marketing campaigns and competitive pricing models.

Although 3 currently offers the cheapest deal when it comes to mobile broadband, check broadband comparison sites before heading to their website. We’re sure it won’t take long for the other major providers to adjust their prices or bring out new packages in light of 3’s new tariff.

Mobile broadband currently covers a large majority of the UK at speeds of over 7 Mbps. Average speeds vary depending on location, so it’s advisable to check broadband coverage in your area before signing up to any mobile broadband deal, contract or otherwise.

Offering free laptops in exchange for mobile broadband contracts is nothing new, but now Tesco are getting in on the act with some pretty good deals on offer.

The deals are available at 50 Tesco stores across the country, being sold alongside the supermarkets mobile phones. Retailers such a PC World, Staples and Carphone Warehouse are also offering free laptop deals with similar prices to Tesco.

Although this could potentially save you money, be aware that the word ‘free’ should be approached with caution. You’ll be on a higher priced monthly contract than someone who just has a broadband deal without the laptop, and you’ll be locked into the contract for two years – quite some time for many net users.

The best way to think of these deals is not as free but as a pay monthly contract. Doing the research is quite easy. Check the price of the laptop online, then check the price of the mobile deal and add up how much they come to separately. You’ll normally find you’ll save around £60-£100 combining the offer, plus there’s the advantage of not having to pay up front.

Lance Batchelor, Chief Executive of Tesco Mobile stated:

“We believe that mobile broadband is going to really take off in 2009 and we want to help our customers get the very best deals, making it easier than ever for them to stay connected wherever they are.”

Mobile Broadband is available throughout the country, often even in rural locations where normal internet access isn’t possible. However, you’ll need to check your area on any of the main provider’s online maps in order to see if you can get good coverage.

Three’s Free Laptop Deals

One of the most popular laptop deals around seem to come from Three Mobile – The have various free laptop/netbook with broadband deals, click here to see them.

We’ve all seen the various advertisements for free Laptops in stores. They started being promoted a couple of years ago for customers signing up to ADSL contracts, but the market has really jumped forward now that mobile broadband has taken off. All of the major providers are offering laptops for free providing you sign up for a contract with them to provide you with the broadband connection, but is getting a free laptop really worth the cost?

The key is to do your sums carefully. Forget all the marketing about getting something free – you’re not, you’re just paying for your laptop and broadband monthly rather than in a lump sum. The company will regain the money for the system no matter what. However, that doesn’t mean that ‘free’ laptops don’t ever make good deals. Sometimes combining the hardware with a broadband package can save you anywhere between £30 and £100 – providing you do find the right deal and do your maths.

The best place to do the shopping for these sorts of deals is usually online, where you have the time to do your research and think properly about your purchase. The last thing you want when you’re trying to work out the best way to buy a new laptop is a salesman trying to push the latest technology on you. In just a few minutes online you can quickly figure out if your deal is worth it or not.

First, find the deal you are looking for and check the contract for any hidden costs or charges. Find out the length of the contract and the price per month as well any additional information such as warranty and delivery charges and add them all up – that’s the total your new laptop should really cost. Now, find a similar broadband package online using a comparison site and find your laptop available without a bundle – Google shopping is good for this task. Add up the price of a similar contract and the laptop along with the all the additional costs and you’ll have those two important figures.

If you’re using a decent retailer what you’ll usually find is the bundle deal is usually slightly cheaper, although not by much. Sometimes you can find special deals on mobile broadband that’ll give you reduced rates, faster speeds or free months that can quickly make a bundled deal seem obsolete, so the important thing is to shop around and look for special offers and anything that could reduce the price of your purchase. Resist impulse buying as you’ll often regret it a year later when you’re still on a far more expensive package than everyone else.

Of course, some people prefer paying monthly and if you do these deals are often a very good way of doing so that doesn’t involve any interest. However, it’s vital you check the terms of the contract and are as certain as possible that you’ll be able to pay every month as there can hefty charges involved in missing a payment. Much like any form of credit; this can quickly spiral into bad debt.

Both laptops and mobile broadband are advancing quickly in terms of hardware and value, so keep in mind that you’ll be stuck with your current options, often for two years, with no way out if better deals come along.
