TalkTalk have been busy these last few years. The company’s bid for rival provider Tiscali went through a couple of weeks ago and is the latest in acquisitions by the company that now include broadband providers Nildram, Pipex and Freedom2Surf creating what is now the largest provider of residential broadband in the country.
Until now however, customers from providers that been purchased by TalkTalk haven’t really had much chance to experience the same level of internet connectivity as TalkTalk’s own customers – sometimes being left in the dark about services and pricing or even the future of their contract. TalkTalk have now pledged to change this with a new wave of services designed just for those customers, bringing them in line with their regular users.
The company hasn’t said exactly what these new services will be, although after the acquisition of Tiscali, it’s likely that Pipex and the other ISPs will be seeing some sort of IP based television service similar to Tiscali TV being launched.
“We understand that customers of Tiscali and their brands including Pipex, Nildram and Freedom2Surf are looking to us to introduce new products and services and we’re looking to do that and there are already things in the pipeline,” Said Wendy Becker, managing director of TalkTalk.
“We’re looking at specific customers, understanding their needs and coming up with ways to enhance their experience”
The company also suggested that customers from ISPs joining TalkTalk could now expect improved customer service:
“We’ve invested heavily in customer service and we’ll be applying these learnings very quickly to ensure Tiscali customers begin to see improvements in the short term. TalkTalk was voted best value home phone company by uSwitch in April 2009 and also recognised for having the most improved customer service of any broadband provider in the survey.” said Ms Becker.
It’s a good start, although we do wonder why these customers have had to wait quite so long before expecting the same level of customer service as everyone else!
